(1) Mathematical process standards. The student uses mathematical processes to acquire and demonstrate mathematical understanding. The student is expected to:
(A) apply mathematics to problems arising in everyday life, society, and the workplace;
(B) use a problem-solving model that incorporates analyzing given information, formulating a plan or strategy, determining a solution, justifying the solution, and evaluating the problem-solving process and the reasonableness of the solution;
(C) select tools, including real objects, manipulatives, paper and pencil, and technology as appropriate, and techniques, including mental math, estimation, and number sense as appropriate, to solve problems;
(D) communicate mathematical ideas, reasoning, and their implications using multiple representations, including symbols, diagrams, graphs, and language as appropriate;
(E) create and use representations to organize, record, and communicate mathematical ideas;
(F) analyze mathematical relationships to connect and communicate mathematical ideas; and
(G) display, explain, and justify mathematical ideas and arguments using precise mathematical language in written or oral communication.

GEOMETRY

Monday August 19:  We will go over 1-18 on Binder page 1 and set up the Interactive Student Notebook.  We will review with examples 1-10 and students will complete wkst 1.1A.

Tuesday August 20-Wednesday August 21:  We will have a lesson on Segments and Distance, 1.2.   We will make accounts in bigideasmath.com and the assignment will be page 16-18 #1-2,4-26even,30,34,37a and b.

Thursday August 22:  Students will take Quiz 1.1-1.2.

Friday August 23:  We will have a lesson on Midpoints and Segment Bisectors, 1.3.  The assignment is page 24-25 #1-2,6-10all,20-28even,32,34.  Class time will be given on Monday.

HONORS GEOMETRY:

Monday August 19:  We will have a lesson on Segments and Congruence, 1.2.  The assignment will be wkst 1.2C.

Tuesday August 20:  We will make accounts in bigideasmath.com.  We will have a lesson on Midpoint and Distance, 1.3A.  The assignment is page 17#24,26,34 and page 24 #1-2,4-10even,20,24,26,30,32.

Wednesday August 21:  We will add Partitioning to our notes and complete 2 example problems.  The assignment is wkst 1.3C.

Thursday August 22:  We will have a lesson on Angles, 1.4/1.5.  The assignment is wkst 1.4C.

Friday August 23:  We will have a lesson on Angle Pairs, 1.5/1.6. The assignment is wkst 1.5C.

GEOMETRY:

Wednesday August 14:  Introduction to Geometry with Procedures, Routines, and Supplies needed.  We will do Partner Interviews to get to know each other.

Thursday August 15-Friday August 16:  We will look at the class blog on the computer and join Google Classroom.  We will begin Geometry with a lesson on Points, Lines, and Planes, 1.1.  We will do 10 examples together in class and then students will complete Binder page 1.

HONORS GEOMETRY:

Wednesday August 14:  Introduction to Honors Geometry with Procedures, Routines, and Supplies needed.  We will go over the Honors contracts.  Students will complete the Four Fours Activity in groups of 3-4.

Thursday August 15-Friday August 16:  We will have a lesson on Points, Lines, and Planes, 1.1.  Students will complete 1-10 on the student journal wkst.  We will apply Algebraic Inequalities to our Geometry vocabulary with some examples. The assignment is wkst 1.1C.
